Early this year, Four-Wheeler announced that the 2022 Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon 392 from J Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Anaheim Hills had won the prestigious SUV of the Year Award, presented by Four Wheeler Magazine.
The annual SUV of the Year competition, which is open to all-new or considerably updated SUVs for the upcoming model year and is judged by the editors of the 4×4 enthusiast newspaper, ends in the annual award. The editors’ conclusion was that the Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon 392 may already have the best features any factory off-road SUV can ever have. In fact, in their words, “there has been nothing like it before, and they’re likely won’t be anything of the sort once it’s gone.”
According to Sean P. Holman, the Content Director of Four Wheeler, “The Jeep Wrangler 392 is the first vehicle in decades of testing to hit a bullseye on everything that the Four Wheeler staff has ever wanted; in a factory 4×4.”
While describing the vehicle itself, he stated that “With solid axles, front and rear lockers, a disconnecting anti-roll bar, flexy link-coil suspension, 35-inch tires and sublime V-8 integration that brings with it an incredible 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of useable torque, the Wrangler 392 elevates Jeep’s iconic enthusiast vehicle to another plane and should be tops on any buying list for as long as it lasts.”
Truck Trend’s Jason Gonderman also commented on how deserving the vehicle was of the award when he stated the Wrangler Rubicon 392 is something of a dream-come-true for off-road fans who have been looking for cars that combine solid axles, powerful v-8 engine, and solid axles for a generation.
Before the winner of the award was identified, Four Wheeler did ramp travel index (RTI) testing to check each vehicle’s suspension articulation for a week. They also did track testing, including 0-60 and quarter-mile acceleration times, and 60-0 braking distances, in Southern California and Nevada.
