Roadkill Nights Returns for Ninth Year: Competitors for the Direct Connection Grudge Race Revealed

MotorTrend, the world’s largest automotive media group committed to inspiring and intensifying people’s passion for the motoring world, presents Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge for the ninth year. Dodge and MotorTrend bring legally sanctioned drag racing to Woodward Avenue in Metro Detroit this summer. The Roadkill Nights is a celebration of performance unlike any other, and it has brought horsepower enthusiasts from different parts of the world together in celebration. However, the 2024 event will introduce the legacy of Dodge and MotorTrend’s horsepower circus. 

Roadkill Nights attendees will experience the chance to watch different America’s quickest street-legal cars first-hand on Woodward Avenue. They can also expect to watch Dodge Thrill Rides, a classic and modern car show, Roadkill talent appearances, Dodge displays and Dodge show vehicles, and much more. For almost a decade, the Dodge brand has remained the engine that keeps the Roadkill Night running. Moreover, MotorTrend is excited to host its most popular and exhilarating show in the Motor City.

However, the Direct Connection Grudge Race is set to be the headline attraction at Roadkill Night for the fourth consecutive year. Six automotive builders with many online followers will participate in weeks of social media smack talk before battling on the temporary Woodward Avenue drag strip. As foundational elements for their respective drag-car builds, these Grudge Race competitors recently received Direct Connection HurriCrate engines, achieved from the high-output 3.0-liter Hurricane Twin Turbo engine.

The combination of veterans and rookie Direct Connection Grudge Race competitors all battling for their first Grudge Race win will include:

• Garrett Reed (a custom vehicle and maker of the renowned American Muscle HD social channels).
• Morgan Evans (a rookie Grudge Race competitor popular on social media as one who can build anything on four wheels),
• Herman Young, aka Demonology ( a passionate member of the Dodge Brotherhood of Muscle gunning and returning veteran in the event)
• Allison Kovalik (although not a stranger to Roadkill Night or sick drag cars creation, she is new to the Direct Connection Grudge Race).
• Western Champlin (a self-proclaimed “horsepower connoisseur” who battled in the 2021-2022 Direct Connection Grudge Race).
• Tom Bailey (“Sick” media franchise’s owner. He returns to compete solo after serving as a mentor in 2023).
