With the new 2018 Dodge Challenger unveiled, it’s safe to say the 2014 Hellcat is no longer the most powerful muscle car around. With the 2018 Dodge Challenger, Dodge set out with the goal to create a car that would stick in the minds of even their most loyal consumers. To do this they knew that they needed to have a car capable of setting new records, a car that could do more than the Hellcat. And so the new 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT demon was born. The all-new 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon now holds the title for the most powerful muscle car. The 2018 Challenger features a supercharged 840-horsepower 6.2-liter HEMI Demon V-8 underneath an Air-Grabber hood. The functional hood scoop allows the engine to take in plenty of air. The Demon V-8 has an airflow rate of 1,150 cubic feet per minute. With this powerful engine, the 2018 Demon tops out at 140 mph and can complete the ¼-mile in 9.65 seconds.
The record-setting performance isn’t all that makes the 2018 Dodge Demon the talk of the town. This powerful muscle car has a list of firsts as everything about the car was carefully considered in order to optimize its weight, durability, and capability on the strip. The 2018 Dodge Challenger features Nitto street-legal drag radials- something that has never been done before. The narrow wheels reduce front end weight for drag strip performance.
The transmission features a TransBrake that locks the transmission into place before launch allowing the driver to increase engine RPMs for both a quicker response and higher torque. Drag Mode Launch Assist features wheel sensors that watch for the dreaded wheel hop at launch. If detected the engine torque is modified to allow for full grip. The Drag Mode suspension allows for better weight transfer so the rear wheels provide better traction.
